Bits are purchased by viewers and used to "cheer" in chat with animated emotes. Each bit is worth $0.01 to the streamer. Viewers can cheer any amount, and cheering often triggers on-screen alerts.
While bits represent direct revenue, they're primarily a community engagement feature. Bits-based events and milestones can drive viewer participation during streams.
