What is Networking DM?
A direct message sent to another streamer to initiate a connection, collaboration, or mutual support arrangement. Effective networking DMs are personalized and reference specific shared interests.
A networking DM is a direct message — typically sent through Discord, Twitch whispers, or social media — to another streamer you want to build a relationship with. The goal is to start a genuine conversation, not to pitch yourself.
Effective networking DMs are short, specific, and reference something real: a moment from their stream you enjoyed, a game you both play, or a community you're both part of. Generic messages like "want to collab?" from strangers get ignored.
The key is to have an existing presence in their community before reaching out. If they recognize your name from their chat or Discord, your message gets a completely different response. Learn the full approach in our guide: How to Network as a Small Twitch Streamer.
